The Nimbus Access Card

The Access Card from Nimbus shows your access needs using simple symbols, such as needing a free companion ticket (+1), step-free access or captions. It is accepted at many theatres, concert venues, stadiums and attractions across the UK.

Hynt in Wales

Hynt is a free scheme for theatres and arts centres in Wales. Cardholders get a free ticket for a carer or personal assistant at participating venues. Apply on the Hynt website.

Heritage sites

• National Trust: free entry for an essential companion. You can apply for an Essential Companion card to show at the door.
• English Heritage: free entry for one companion or carer with a disabled visitor.
• Cadw (Wales): free entry for carers accompanying a disabled visitor.
• Museums and galleries: most national museums are free, and many offer relaxed openings and sensory maps.

Theme parks, zoos and attractions

Most large attractions offer free or discounted carer tickets, and some have ride access passes so you do not have to queue in the main line. Each has its own rules and proof it accepts, so check their accessibility page before you go.

Sport and live music

Most football clubs and big venues have access ticketing with free or cheaper companion tickets. Contact the club or venue's disability liaison officer or access booking line.

The Max Card

The Max Card is a discount card for families of children with additional needs, given out by many local councils and charities. It gives free or discounted entry at hundreds of attractions. Ask your council or local parent carer forum.
