How we check our facts
People make important decisions based on what we write. This page explains how we make sure our information is accurate, fair and easy to understand.
Our sources
We base our guides on official and trusted sources. These include:
- GOV.UK, for benefit rules, rates and how to claim
- legislation.gov.uk, for the law itself, such as the PIP Regulations 2013
- DWP guidance and statistics
- the NHS and NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), for health information
- Upper Tribunal decisions, which explain how benefit law should be applied
- well-known charities, such as Citizens Advice, Age UK, Versus Arthritis and Contact
Every guide lists the main sources we used at the bottom of the page.
How we write
- We write in plain English, for a reading age of around 9 to 11, like GOV.UK and the NHS.
- We explain any word that may be unfamiliar.
- We tell you what the rules actually say, including when something may be difficult.
- We never promise that you will get a benefit.
How we review
- Each guide shows the date it was last checked for accuracy.
- We check every guide at least once a year.
- We update benefit rates every April, when they change.
- We update guides as soon as we can when laws or official guidance change.
Health information
Our health guides are based on NHS and NICE information. They are written to help you understand a condition and your options, not to replace advice from your own doctor.
At the moment our health guides are not reviewed by a medical professional. We plan to add clinical review in future, and we will show the reviewer's name and qualifications on each page when we do.
How we use AI tools
We sometimes use AI tools to help with research, first drafts and checking. A person always checks every page against our sources before it is published, and is responsible for what it says. We do not publish anything written by AI without human review.
Independence
- We are not part of the DWP, the NHS or any government body.
- Nobody can pay us to change what we write.
- Affiliate links never affect our advice. They are always clearly labelled. Read how we make money.
Corrections
If you think something on our website is wrong, please tell us at hello@juniperhealth.info. We will look into it quickly. If we made a mistake, we will fix it and update the "last checked" date on the page. If the mistake was important, we will add a short note to the page to say what changed.
