We explain health conditions and disability benefits in plain English, and build free tools to help people understand what support they may be able to get.
Why Juniper Health exists
Living with a long-term health condition is hard enough. Trying to understand it, and then working out what help you can get, can feel overwhelming. Official information is often long, complicated and full of jargon.
Juniper Health is here to make it simpler. We:
- explain health conditions in plain English, based on NHS and NICE information
- explain disability benefits such as PIP, Attendance Allowance and DLA, step by step
- build free self-checks that help you see which parts of a benefit may apply to you
- point you to trusted help, such as the NHS, charities and free advice services
Our promises
- Free to use. Our guides and self-checks will always be free.
- Plain English. We write so anyone can understand, without jargon.
- Private by design. Our self-checks run on your own device. We never see your answers.
- Honest. We tell you what the rules really say, including when a claim may be hard.
- Independent. We are not part of the DWP, the NHS or any company that sells benefit services.
Who we are
Juniper Health was set up by Neil Hyde, who writes and edits the guides. It is run as a small independent business.
How we check our facts
Every page is based on official and trusted sources, such as GOV.UK, the law on legislation.gov.uk, the NHS and NICE. We list our sources on each page and check every page at least once a year. Read our editorial policy.
How we are funded
We are funded by donations and by a small number of clearly labelled affiliate links. We do not show adverts. Read how we make money.

You are not on your own. Our free Juniper Health Facebook group is a friendly place to share tips, ask questions and support each other.
What we are building next
