Food
There is no special PCOS diet. A balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, wholegrains, beans and lean protein, and fewer sugary foods and drinks, can help your body manage insulin.
Being active
Aim for at least 150 minutes of activity a week. Strength exercises can be especially helpful.
Body image and mood
Changes to hair, skin and weight can affect how you feel about yourself. Anxiety and depression are more common in PCOS. Talk to your GP if you are struggling. You can refer yourself to NHS Talking Therapies in England.
Health checks
Ask your GP about regular checks for blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. See your GP if you have fewer than 3 or 4 periods a year, or any unusual bleeding.
Support
Verity is a UK charity for people with PCOS.
