Shopping

Most supermarkets have gluten free ranges. Coeliac UK has an app that lets you scan barcodes to check products.

At home

  • use a separate toaster or toaster bags
  • use separate butter and spreads, or be careful not to use knives with crumbs
  • clean surfaces before preparing gluten free food

Eating out

Restaurants and cafes must be able to tell you if a dish contains gluten. Ask how food is prepared, and whether it could be contaminated.

Travel

Take snacks, and look up gluten free options before you go. Coeliac UK has translation cards for travel abroad.

Support

Coeliac UK has a helpline, recipes and local groups.
